What Nick Carraway needs to review and come to terms with in his life, is as what follows. His ideals and ideas of life. The ways of how he has led life have been called into question. His perception of people has been broken. He is depressed. His ideology of his friends has been destroyed. He has suffered the death of many of his friends and people that surrounded his life, some of which he cared for greatly. His fantastical and fictive view of the world has been shattered and he is now aware of the harsh truth of reality. He no longer knows where to go with his life.
